Do It Yourself Investing

In today’s digital age, gaining access to information is easy.

As Jim Parker of DFA Australia rightly points out in this article, Living on the Edge, anyone with a smartphone and a few apps can be set up like a professional stock trader.

But who actually wants to do that?

More importantly, do you need to?

I highly recommend reading Jim’s brief 2 page article on this subject.

His closing paragraph is right on the money. Our limited resource is not speed or access to information, but our own time. We only have a short window to live the lives we want.

I believe that this is one of the key values of an adviser.

Sure, there is knowledge, experience and expertise surrounding finances, but it’s the areas of an impartial person keeping you disciplined with money, so that you can enjoy your time in a way that you find fulfilling rather than time filling.
